Small and medium-sized companies need to provide more training

STUTTGART (dpa-AFX) - According to a survey commissioned by Dekra, occupational health and safety can be improved, particularly in small and medium-sized companies. These companies have a clear need to catch up with large companies when it comes to occupational safety and prevention, as the testing organization in Stuttgart announced.

Accordingly, in smaller companies with fewer than 50 employees, occupational safety training only takes place regularly in just under half of those surveyed; in medium-sized companies with 50 to 500 employees it is 69 percent. In contrast, according to Dekra, 87 percent of large companies with more than 500 employees receive regular training.

The situation is similar when it comes to prevention: measures to promote company health are most common in large companies. Almost nine out of ten employees there said that there were corresponding offers. In companies with fewer than 50 employees, it was only slightly more than one in three.

The results are based on a survey by the Forsa Institute on behalf of Dekra; the service provider offers occupational safety instructions. Around 1,500 employees from various sectors nationwide were surveyed in a representative manner about the status of occupational health and safety in their work./asn/DP/zb
